A 4D Nav client was facing challenges with an FPSO installation and requested a novel solution to assist with monitoring the touchdown of risers and umbilicals.
4D Nav worked directly with the client to develop an effective solution for the challenge they face. The project team determined that the best solution was to model the riser in question with OrcaFlexTM and combine its data with several attached LBL acoustic transponders that could be tracked via a local seabed LBL array.
Using a NavView simulation, we were able to generate screen captures to illustrate the riser's installation at various stages of the process and prove the validity of the approach.
With NavView simulations in hand, the client was able to present 4D Nav's FPSO installation solution to its project partner for approval. Once the project was authorized, 4D Nav developed the necessary NavView modifications reliably and successfully.
Our regular progress updates to the client's team ensured they kept their project partner informed throughout development.
One 4D Nav's solution was in place, our team supported the project to ensure successful implementation. In the end, the client was able to effectively use NavView for FPSO catenary touchdown monitoring on an ongoing basis.
